Closure of phosphate mine could spark economic collapse on Christmas Island

Phosphate Resources Limited, the company who mines phosphate on Christmas Island have said the island could face a major economic collapse if extensions to clear more crown land in order to access new deposits to the phosphate mine are not granted in the next six months.
