A facilities management company has been awarded a contract at part of a $2.6 billion metal project in Far North Queensland, creating dozens of jobs.
Sodexo recently won the integrated services contract for Rio Tinto’s Amrun Bauxite Project, 40km south of Weipa.
QMEB has learnt the deal worth $22 million involves supplying camp management services to the project. A letter of intent, which was recently signed between Rio and Sodexo, reveals the supplier will not only provide integrated facilities management services at mine sites in Weipa but also the Gove in the Northern Territory.
Some 50 jobs will be created for the agreement’s two-year term, including an Indigenous employment target of 20 per cent.
