Coal Freight Operations Disrupted By Planned Strikes

The Rail Tram and Bus Union will hold 24-hour strikes across six of Aurizon’s  Queensland coal depots this Friday and next Monday.

According to The Australian, union members are striking over an on-going pay and rostering dispute.

The strikes will potentially affect hundreds of freight rail services across coal mining areas throughout the state.

Friday’s strikes will take place at Aurizon’s Bluff  Stanwell, Callemondah and Bowen depots with Jilalan, near Sarina, and Coppabellato follow on the Monday.

Friday and Monday’s industrial action will be the latest in a series of strikes conducted by the union after stoppages were held at Aurizon’s Rockhampton and Sarina depots in early January.  At the same time overtime bans were implemented at depots at Bluff, Stanwell, Bowen,  Coppabella and Callemondah.
