A mineral processing company won a new tender for a coal operation in New South Wales’ Upper Hunter region.

A subsidiary of CIMIC Group recently secured the operations and maintenance services contract for MACH Energy’s Mount Pleasant Coal Mine in Muswellbrook, 132km northwest of Newcastle.

Three years of work

Successful tenderer Sedgman will spend another three years operating and maintaining the mine’s existing coal handling and preparation facility. QMEB can reveal the deal is worth $120 million and does not include a previous contract for the same work worth a further $80M.

The contractor previously constructed the facility and has operated and maintained the plant since 2019.
