A Continental resource services company been awarded a tender extension for a precious metal project in Western Australia’s Midwest region.
France-headquartered Sodexo recently won an extension for its existing operational contract for Westgold Resources’ Big Bell Gold Mine, 400 km northeast of Geraldton.
Major deal
The agreement continues the contractor’s responsibilities for maintaining the accommodation village, transport operations, catering, cleaning, building maintenance and landscaping at the mine site.
Sodexo is also required to reduce daily commute times and ensure worker facilities are readily available. QMEB can reveal the deal increases the value of the existing contract to a total of $40 million, and prolongs the expiry date to the year 2021.

‘Home away from home’
“The Big Bell mine is accelerating fast to become the cornerstone asset in the Cue operations,” Westgold director of operations Steve Norregaard said in a public statement. “Sodexo’s facilities management services to the Big Bell mine site give us peace of mind that workers will be provided access to high quality facilities and a home away from home experience.”
