173 workers killed in 2015

More than 170 workers have been killed at work in 2015, according to Safe Work Australia statistics.

The data, collected up until December 1, revealed 173 people had died at work, including 23 in construction, 13 in mining and 10 in manufacturing.

The highest number of workplace deaths occurred in the transport, postal and warehousing industry, and the agriculture, forestry and fishing industry – both with 48 workers killed.

Last year, there were 29 workplace fatalities in the construction industry, 13 in the mining industry and 10 in the manufacturing industry.
