Employer offers new coal mine recruits up to $10K bonus

One of the world’s largest mining services companies is prepared to pay big money for jobseekers who accept an employment offer in Central Queensland’s Isaac region.

Thiess Australia will pay each successful applicant up to $10,000 for accepting a job. The permanent full-time positions are based at either BHP’s Peak Downs Coal Mine in Winchester, 210km southwest of Mackay or BHP Mitsubishi Alliance’s Caval Ridge Coal Mine in Moranbah – 188km southwest of Mackay.

Multiple production operator positions have been advertised at Peak Downs. Successful applicants will receive a $10,000 sign-on bonus, even-time (day or night) roster of 12.5 hour shifts, living out of camp allowance, salary sacrificed flights, subsidised Medibank health insurance, and discounted travel and retail products.

Meanwhile, the following permanent full-time jobs are separately advertised at Caval Ridge:

  • production operators (multiple positions)
  • multi-skilled operators (multiple)
  • water cart operators (multiple)
  • excavator operators (multiple)
  • grader operators (multiple)
  • dozer operators (multiple)
  • truck operators (multiple).

Successful applicants for production operator will receive a $10,000 sign-on bonus, while the other positions will attract a $5000 incentive.

These roles offer even-time (day or night) rosters of 12.5 hour shifts, camp accommodation, salary sacrificed flights, company paid buses to Townsville–Mackay–Rockhampton, subsidised Medibank health insurance, and discounted travel and retail products.
