Multiple remote employees are needed across the nation and no experience is necessary.

Aston Advantage’s clients are prepared to fully train fly-in fly-out (FIFO) and drive-in drive-out (DIDO) jobseekers at several mining operations.

The recruitment agency recently invited applicants for an entry-level drillers offsider induction program. Within a fortnight of completion they will be deployed to “top drilling companies” based in either Queensland, New South Wales, Western Australia or the Northern Territory.

Successful applicants will be offered either a full-time FIFO or DIDO roster of 12 hour shifts for eight days on six days off, seven days on seven days off, two weeks on one week off, or three weeks on one week off.

Wages at underground, surface exploration and blast drilling operations start at $100,000 plus superannuation, and the amount progressively increases with experience.

Salary bands are as follows:

  • driller offsider: $100,000
  • trainee driller (after one year): $120,000
  • driller level one (after two years) : $140,000
  • driller level two (after three years): $160,000
  • driller level three (after four years): $180,000.

“Are you a labourer or trade assistant looking for your next step into FIFO? Get onboard with our driller offsider induction program, earn great money and kickstart your FIFO drilling career,” the agency said on the SEEK website.

Meanwhile, DDH1 Drilling is separately training-up surface and underground drillers offsiders.

Successful applicants will be offered a field-based FIFO role in the Sunshine State. All work-related training, travel, site accommodation and meals will be provided.

An annual salary of $100,000 plus super will be paid for working “12 hours each day for 14 days straight”.

“Think of this as your [unofficial] apprenticeship,” the employer said on the SEEK website.

“This role will earn you $100,000 in your first year and provide potential career advancement. You will be joining a family, not just a company.”

The whole industry created almost 22,000 jobs and 5000 apprenticeships in the past year according to the Minerals Council of Australia (MCA).

“Australian Bureau of Statistics data showing a strengthening of the labour market is good news for job seekers, acute skills shortages persist for many industries including mining,” MCA CEO Tania Constable said in a public statement.

“Skills shortages are a handbrake on the economy and need to be urgently addressed.”
