A mining service provider is prepared to give extra money to jobseekers with highly attractive skills in Central Queensland’s Bowen Basin.

Macmahon recently introduced a new “hot skills allowance” bonus, which offers workers thousands of dollars in bonuses if they have experience in operating Cat graders 16M, dozers D10/T/ D11T or loaders 938 / 993. Mechanical and/or electrical truck experience in using Liebherr 264 and Komatsu 830E is also desirable.

“New hot skills allowance bonus [will pay] up to $11,760 per annum,” the company said on the Seek website.

The company has already advertised multiple full-time all round operator vacancies at Anglo American’s Dawson South Coal Mine in Kianga, 198km south of Rockhampton. Wages for these positions are calculated at $51.50 an hour plus an extra $5 “hot skills allowance”.

“Due to the continuous growth and strengthening of our position Australia-wide and the recent award of the contract at Dawson South, Macmahon has an opportunity for experienced all round operators on a [friendly] 7:7 roster drive-in drive-out to join our growing team,” the company said.
