A multinational resources company is prepared to fully train and pay Queenslanders, even if they have no industry experience.

BHP recently invited a new round of applications for coordinator apprentices at its FutureFit Academy in North Queensland.

QMEB previously revealed trainees must be available to attend four day shifts (6am to 2:30pm) and then a further four afternoon and evening shifts (2:30pm to 11pm) in Mackay.

A competitive trainee salary, up to six weeks’ paid leave, and scheduled mid- and Christmas-breaks will be offered. No company paid accommodation or transport will be provided until successful completion.

Once training is complete, graduates will be deployed to various mine sites where permanent positions, “steady” income and camp accommodation will be offered. They could each earn in excess of $100,000 a year plus a short-term incentive.

BHP is separately recruiting students, in their second year or later, for the company’s 2022 summer internship campaign.

Successful candidates will spend 10 to 12 weeks at a mine site, working on either a residential or fly-in fly-out basis.

Structured course work, on-the-job learning, and one-on-one mentorship will be provided over 18 months in three, six-month modules.

“Upon completion, you will be ready to take up a variety of roles and be supported in identifying those roles within MMG that align best with your long-term career aspirations,” the employer said on the Seek website.
