A diversified engineering and services company is inviting applications for multiple mining jobs at a $225 million coal project in Central Queensland’s Bowen Basin.
Downer Mining is hiring mining operators at BHP Mitsubishi Alliance’s (BMA’s) Blackwater Mine. The right applicants will play an integral role in implementing the client’s project requirements while operating mobile plant equipment.
“You will utilise your previous skills and experience to become an enthusiastic, motivated and reliable team member. You must possess a commitment to safe work practices and continuous improvement principles with the ability to participate in a multi-skilled environment,” Downer recruitment officer Belinda Black says.
This is a residential role, meaning the applicant must be based in Blackwater and not fly-in fly-out. A lifestyle roster will be offered (5/4, 4/5, 5/5).
Ideal applicants will have:
- mining industry experience
- experience operating mobile mining equipment including trucks, dozers, graders and excavators
- production and safety oriented with a focus on achieving results for both yourself and for the company
- high levels of initiative and the ability to work well under pressure
The recruitment drive follows Downer previously winning a two-year contract for mining and maintenance services back in late 2015. QMEB can reveal this contract is worth $150 million with an additional option for a one-year extension. The scope of work includes the load and haul of pre-strip material using BMA-owned plant and equipment, as well as maintenance of BMA’s plant and equipment.
Downer won a second contract for blasting services worth $75 million with a three-year term. The scope of work includes the management and provision of drilling and blasting services, including partial down-the-hole loading services.
