QantasLink pulls flights from Miles to Brisbane permanently

QantasLink BNEAll flights from Miles on the Western Downs to Brisbane have been cancelled by QantasLink, just two weeks before they were due to commence.

Full refunds are being offered to travelers who had pre-booked their flights, scheduled to start from 16 June, as the company moved to pull out of the region.

According to Surat Basin.com,QantasLink Head of Regional Development, Elsa D’Alessio, blamed the “current economic climate” and poor forward bookings for the pull-out.

“While Miles is experiencing some growth in FIFO operations, and showed good signs of commercial flights being sought after, all companies to date have chosen to charter air services as their key means of transport to the region,” she said.

“QantasLink is very grateful for the co-operation today from Western Downs Council overall – it has been outstanding – and would like to ensure you that our commitment to providing charter services to Miles is not under threat is any way due to this decision.”
