Uncertainty surrounds the state of play in QLD at the moment. Driving the unknown is the current stance of the newly formed Queensland Labour Government towards regulatory arrangements and deregulation of electricity prices. Initially this was due to take effect in two months but has now been put on hold for another year pending a public enquiry into electricity pricing and distribution.
This has left market participants speculating what this is going to mean for competition, profitability and ultimately the end user.
Energy Minister Mark Bailey, Terry Effeny and Merryn York, will be addressing the industry on the future state of the market at the upcoming Queensland Power and Gas Forum in July. They will be joining senior leaders from industry players including Energex, Ergon, Stanwell, AGL and many more.
