Rewarding innovation for all levels of the mining industry

With an industry-leading panel of judges and a Gala Presentation dinner packed with potential clients and peers, the Queensland Mining Awards are shaping up to be 2018’s finest celebration of the mining industry.

But with two weeks left to enter, Bowen Basin Mining Club Director Jodie Currie says businesses should be considering the long-term rewards of an entry that catches the judges’ eyes. “Previous winners and finalists have seen the value of an Award demonstrated in their business – both in building credibility with peers and with future clients.  Award finalists will receive coverage in leading mining publications, promotion through our network
and profiling in front of real decision-makers at the presentation dinner.” said Ms Currie.

This year, resource companies and contractors can enter the new Collaboration category, as well as a revamped community/staff engagement and EEO category. Contractor and supplier entry categories include innovation, safety, cost saving, time saving and product launch.

The Queensland Resources Council are co-hosting the event, and QRC Chief Executive Ian Macfarlane says he is proud to be spotlighting the industry’s most forward-thinking businesses. “As an industry, the Queensland resources industry is incredibly capable when it comes to productivity, doing things differently and getting results. The climate of the last several years has seen businesses everywhere tighten their belts and the impact of that is a higher value placed on innovation and creativity, rather than just doing things the way they’ve always been done.  Particularly with the inclusion of the Collaboration and Safety categories, I think the Awards will help to bring out some of those stories,” said Mr Macfarlane.

The entry process is a simple online questionnaire, but support is available for time and resource-
poor businesses thanks to the Department of State Development, Manufacturing, Infrastructure and Planning.
