Speaker line-up for 2017 Major Industry Conference

THE Gladstone Engineering Alliance Major Industry Conference has lined up a who’s who of speakers in 2017 highlighting over $500 million of projects and tenders available for the central Queensland supply chain.

GEA Chief Executive Officer Carli Homann said the conference is highly regarded as the key forum for current and future work opportunities with 2017 marking the 14th year of the industry event.

“In recognition of this milestone and in understanding the current needs of the market in line with the economy, GEA has continued to expand the conference scope,” Ms Homann said.

“Now that Gladstone has moved significantly into LNG production and export, and as existing industry in the Region continues to evolve in the ways they operate, the 2017 event will reflect a broader view of opportunities, will identify some up and coming breakthrough projects, explore diversification for the Region and will place the onus back on the supply chain to think strategically, innovatively and of the big picture.”

Speakers at this year’s GEA Major Industry Conference represent the region’s major industries, infrastructure providers, planners and leaders in the mineral processing, mining and construction industry.

The conference provides a forum for these proponents to showcase their project quantum, timeline and contacts.

“The conference has diversified in 2017 to also include a number of projects within the construction industry like the Gladstone Integrated Health Precinct, Gladstone Ports Corporation’s East Shores Stage 1B project and over $30 million of projects through the Gladstone Area Water Board,” Ms Homann said.

“We are pleased to also announce Adani General Manager of Business Development Raj Guruswamy will be speaking along with Moreton Resources CEO Jason Elks, Carbine Resources CEO Tony James and Idemitsu Common Category Manager Adam Dickens.

“The core focus of the GEA Major Industry Conference is to facilitate a forum which allows key decision makers who represent the central Queensland supply chain to have access to up and coming project and tender information from the top of the chain in terms of company CEO’s and managers.

“Queensland Resources Council Chief Executive Ian Macfarlane is also a guest speaker and he’ll be talking about future industry developments and the challenges expected over the next few years and our special guest speaker and MC for the day is Dr Keith Suter who is one of Australia’s most influential futurists and media commentators in local and global affairs.”

To complement the day and to celebrate industry and business in central Queensland, the GEA will also be hosting their Gala Dinner and Industry Awards night held on the evening of the conference at the Gladstone Entertainment and Convention Centre.
