Strange dots, lines discovered in remote mining region

Unusual round and long markings have raised speculation about their origins in Queensland’s Central West.

Satellite images of an orderly arrangement of white dots and lines recently fuelled social media rumours about how they came to exist in Morella, 50km northwest of Longreach.

“[I] found these strange dots and lines out in the middle of nowhere, saw it when looking at the satellite Google Maps view. I wondered that [if they are cotton bales] but I could not see any sort of access roads – the nearest roads were pretty far away,” sillysausagem8 said on Reddit.

“Anyone know what this is?”

One user called aussie_bob believes mining activity could have created the markings.

“Slurry pits from exploration drill rigs and maybe costeans across the dry lake beds. I would suspect lithium miners,” he commented.

A different user called vk6flab thought explosives and blasting could have created the dots and lines.

“Mining site with blast layouts?” the user commented.

Agreeable_Context959 suggested land clearing and controlled burns could be responsible for the mysterious white matter.

“It is trees that have been pushed up by a dozer and burned, leaving white ash piles behind. [This] explains the cleared areas around them as well,” the user commented.

Others believe the markings could be minerals or possibly even something from out of this world.

“It is salt that has been pushed into piles,” Wow_youre_tall commented.

“Australian crop circles,” ozzy-battler commented.
