A mining equipment company secured a subterranean heavy vehicle contract for a new operation.
Epiroc recently received orders worth 130 million Swedish kronors (A$18.6M) at Liontown Resources’ Kathleen Valley mine.
The successful bidder will spend the next two years supplying Byrnecut with a new fleet of Minetruck MT65 S underground haulers, each of which boasts a 65-tonne load capacity. The contractor will also provide parts, service support and on-site technicians.
Mineral production is expected to start during 2024.
“The newly updated Epiroc Minetruck MT65 S is a top-of-the-line machine designed with a focus on safety, productivity, energy efficiency and operator comfort,” underground division president Sami Niiranen said in a public statement.
