1400 Mining Jobs Currently Available in Queensland

Around 1400 jobs are available in the mining sector in Queensland as strong coal prices and record export quantities create the necessity to expand.

The QRC said the industry was seeking employees across a range of roles throughout the state. Coal seam gas was creating jobs in the south, while coal was creating jobs in both central and northern areas. As well as in the field roles available, there were also a number of office-based roles in major cities like Brisbane.

The coal industry has faced low prices for the last five years but is finally bouncing back, delivering record export quantities in the 2017/18 financial year.

Around 300 jobs will be generated through the $100 million revival of the Central Queensland based Gregory Crinum coal project by Japan’s Sojitz. Around 500 jobs are currently advertised for Mackay, Gladstone around 160 jobs and Rockhampton 115. A Senex delivered gas field in the Surat basin will bring 200 jobs ranging from geologists to drivers. The QRC’s March quarter sector report showed there was growth in the minerals, coal, gas and petroleum industries.
