#Job – Mining Infrared Thermographer Traineeship – Bowen Basin.

Mining Infrared Thermographer Traineeship

Infrared Inspections and Technologies (IIAT) is Australia’s leading mechanical thermography specialists for Mining Equipment and an opportunity exists for a mechanical tradesperson to begin as a casual undercarriage technician leading to a full time role as a thermographer for the successful applicant.

In the undercarriage technician role, you will be taught how to properly assess and care for bulldozer undercarriage components. Training will include OEM procedures, IIAT specific procedures, client specific requirements and how to operate autonomously on a site to provide the client with the best results. You will also be assessed in your ability to follow procedures, communicate correctly with your workmates and ultimately your ability to operate a site project on your own,

If assessed as suitable, you will then be trained in Level 1 Thermography to ISO standards and obtain an internationally recognised qualification as a Thermographer in training. A clear training path is then identified offering the successful applicant a pathway to further necessary AINDT and ISO qualifications, as is a pay level structure.

The successful applicant will need to be self motivated at every level of training to ensure the clients needs are serviced right from bulldozer track adjustment to complex infrared analysis. This position requires study in the applicants own time to ensure their successful understanding of the theory of thermodynamics and how it relates to our practical applications.

They will also be required to work flexible hours at various locations throughout the Bowen Basin.

The role would ideally suit a person with mechanical trade qualifications and supervisory experience who is looking for a change in career which allows them to utilise their mechanical knowledge to offer the client recommendations and solutions in increasing their component life while being less ‘hands on’.

A small business background is also desirable with mining experience preferred, but not necessary.

If you are looking for a career change and enjoy a daily challenge, then this could be the job for you.
