There’s less than one month to go before Queensland’s leading safety experts unite on the Gold Coast for a sold-out 32nd annual Queensland Mining Industry Health and Safety Conference (QMIHSC).
This year, for the first time, the conference will offer a Virtual Conferencing facility for people unable to attend in person due to COVID-19 restrictions or work commitments.
The Conference is organised by a Committee comprising representatives from mining companies, the Queensland Resources Council, Resources Safety & Health Queensland, Simtars, the Construction Forestry Mining and Energy Union and the Australian Workers’ Union; and is supported by Principal Sponsor, Anglo American.
Conference Committee Chair and Director Underground Operations, Glencore Coal Assets Australia, Darren Nicholls said this decision will maximise the transfer of information delivered at the four-day, in-person conference (22 – 25 August).
“The health and safety of resources workers always has been, and always will be, the top priority for the resources sector,” Mr Nicholls said.
“By opening this conference up to the virtual world, there are no longer barriers, borders or restrictions for the delegates who wish to immerse themselves in the impressive line-up of speakers and presenters from this year’s program.”
“I expect the announcement will be warmly welcomed by interstate delegates and industry leaders.”
“The advantage of offering online conference access is that it’s more convenient for more people, so we’re looking forward to presenting to our virtual and in-person audience later this month,” Mr Nicholls said.
