$480M metal project ramps up production

Dozens of job vacancies need to be filled as production jumps at a $480 million base metal development in Western Australia’s Great Southern region.

First Quantum Minerals is going on a hiring spree after announcing it would ramp up production by up to 66.7 per cent at its Ravensthorpe Nickel Project, 550km southeast of Perth. The proponent is now targeting a production rate of 25,000 to 28,000 tonnes by the year 2021.

“Production at Ravensthorpe is expected to ramp-up through 2020,” company president Geoffrey Clive Newall said in a public statement. “In the first two full years of production, 2021 and 2022, C1 and all-in sustaining cost costs are expected to be between US$4.60 to US$4.80/lb and US$5.10 to US$5.40/lb respectively.”

  • safety advisor
  • laboratory shift supervisor
  • maintenance fitter – fixed plant
  • emergency services officer (ERT)
  • contracts officer
  • environmental superintendent
  • senior management accountant
  • production supervisor – utilities area (sulphuric acid | steam turbine and diesel power generation)
  • emergency security coordinator
  • production coordinator
  • human resources officer (residential)
  • warehouse officer
  • maintenance technician – plumber
  • maintenance supervisor
  • electrical compliance inspector
  • reliability engineer
  • senior mining engineer
  • mine planning engineer
  • survey technician
  • geology technician
  • structural engineer
  • superintendent hydromet/leaching
  • control system supervisor
  • control systems technician
  • laboratory shift technician
  • health, hygiene and injury management officer
  • mine surveyor
  • resource geologist
  • mine production geologist
  • technical buyer
  • supervisor, electrical (residential or 8:6 BIBO/DIDO)

Successful applicants will work either a residential, bus-in bus-out or drive-in drive-out roster of eight days on and six days off. Relocation is available to Hopetoun, Albany and Esperance for residential employees.

Contractor also hiring

MACA recently secured the open pit mining tender for the project. The agreement involves drilling, blasting, loading and hauling at Australia Nickel’s operation.
