Hundreds of mine workers and their families will rally in Lithgow on Saturday morning in support of the Springvale mine extension.
CFMEU Mining and Energy Division NSW South Western District Vice President Graeme Osborne said local mine workers are disappointed in the delayed approval process for the mine extension, which has left many uncertain and anxious about their future.
The first Springvale mine workers are expected to be stood down from 6pm today and stand downs are expected to continue unless the mine extension approval process is sped up and the mine is approved.
The rally will take place at the Cook St Plaza, in Lithgow, from 8.30am. CFMEU National President Tony Maher, Centennial CEO David Moult, CFMEU Mining and Energy Division District Vice President Graeme Osborne and Springvale CFMEU Lodge President Curtis Jones will attend to speak.
