TPG Total Pump Group Products and service you can rely on!

The long-term sustainability of a mine requires continuous management of water, including removing water to provide for dry-foot conditions. Excavating mineral deposits increases the chances of groundwater build-up at the surface or seeping into underground tunnels. Whilst water is of vital importance for mine processing, excessive water can create annoying site conditions that can hold back production or cause unsafe work conditions. Therefore, effective water management is critical in all mining applications. Because of the multitude of pumping applications and conditions, there are many pumps available on the market and we will only consider centrifugal pumps here.

Generally, centrifugal pumps can be loosely classified as either solids (slurry) handling pumps or clean/dirty water-handling pumps. Slurry pumps cover a vast range of handling applications that are distinct form clean/dirty water and dewatering pumping applications. This distinction is up to the point where the pumped medium can be defined as slurry, so in lower solids pumping applications there is some overlap between both types of pumps.

Slurry pumps
A centrifugal slurry pump utilises the centrifugal forces that are generated by its rotating impeller to impart kinetic energy to the slurry in the same manner as clear liquid type centrifugal pumps. However, this is where the similarities end. Slurry pumps are heavy-duty versions of centrifugal pumps that because of the extreme working environments that they operate in require special considerations regarding materials, impellers, and seal selection. It is also worth noting that a slurry pump will never be as efficient as a water pump even when both are pumping water. Slurry pumps are available with either hard metal or rubber liners, and are designed with open clearances to handle slurries with large solids or slurries with a high concentration of solids.

TPG’s HDS range of horizontal ultra heavy-duty slurry pumps are designed to offer the best flow characteristics under extreme applications. This equates to better throughput and reduced cost per ton pumped. Our range of pumps and spare parts offer exceptional value and performance.
Flows: 12.6 to 5,000m3/hr
Head: up to 110m

Automatic self-priming pumps
Our range of dewatering pumps have been specifically designed to meet the harsh conditions of the mining industry, whilst offering optimum hydraulic efficiency. These pumps are available in a wide variety of materials and configurations in order to meet most site dewatering requirements. Typically, dewatering applications dictate that water be removed in the fastest most economical way possible.

In Australia TPG sells and services Global Pump Co’s range of diesel driven automatic self-priming dewatering pumps. Global Pump Co is a world leading US based pumping solutions manufacturer, whose range of pumps are designed to handle large volumes of water at high pressures. The pumps range in sizes from 100mm to 300mm with flows of 170m3/hr to 1,272m3/hr. They are also capable of generating up to 103.63m of total head in the standard line and up to 182m with the hyper head series (GHH). Practical applications include, but are not limited to, mine dewatering, jetting, fire protection, piling installations, liquid transfer, and supply operations. These pumps are available in sound attenuated and trailer versions. TPG also offers a custom design and build service for customers who either have a specific design criterion for their operation or for customers who want our engineers to design a pump package specifically for their mine.

Water pumps
In keeping with TPG’s commitment to become a valued supplier and service provider to the mining industry our range of pumps now includes ISO 5199 end suction centrifugal pumps and axially split double suction pumps.
